Psalms 116

Before the first verse

*Alleluia.* A short psalm, the first of all that is an atom, that is, without division: for by reason of its brevity not to be received division, but it surpasses all others by the compendiousness of its utterance, and it is as it were the point of the psalms, out of which the divers kinds are formed. A wondrous variation against weariness, to speak wholesome things, now in few words, now at large.

1O Praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
2For his mercy is confirmed upon us: and the truth of the Lord remaineth for ever.
